The cave was used by the Japanese Imperial Army as a field hospital. It is necessary to make a reservation in order to visit the cave as it is on demand guided tour only. There are only Japanese language tour guides and no photo inside the cave is allowed. As there is no artificial light inside the cave, so bring a flash light or rent one from the ticket counter.

The guide is one of the most passionate guides I've ever met. She explained in grizzly details the life of those doomed in this cave. The injured, the sick and the forgotten. The story is sobering with real life account of those who survived the war.

Intense exhibit, crawling through an actual cave used during WWII in the dark with a flashlight. This is the most candid war memorial I've experienced on the island. English tour guides are limited but they are available. This is a place you must visit!

Very interesting site that was used as a hospital during the Battle of Okinawa. Reservations are needed and tours are only in Japanese.
